J. Thomas Pixton
Tom Pixton is a seasoned elder law and estate planning attorney with more than 25 years of experience advising families about how to find and pay for quality long term care and how to preserve seniors’ hard earned assets. He attended University of California at Berkeley, Brigham Young University, and University of San Francisco where he received his law degree in 1975.
Tom is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, ElderCounsel and the Estate Planning and Elder Law sections of the Oregon State Bar. He is also licensed in Washington and California. He currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Elder Law Section of the Oregon State Bar. Tom is a musician, private pilot, husband, father of 7 and grandfather of 23.
Alana J. Hawkins
At Pixton law group, Alana’s practice areas include Long Term Care Planning (Medicaid and Veteran’s Aid & Attendance), Estate Planning (wills and trusts), Social Security Disability, Special Needs Planning, Medicaid Appeals, Probate, Trust Administration, Guardianship and Conservatorship. Alana is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, an accredited VA attorney, and a member the Estate Planning and Elder Law Sections of the Oregon State Bar.
Alana is motivated to help individuals of all ages to access the resources, care and support that they need. She is an experienced social services attorney licensed in Oregon and California. Alana earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in 2004 and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2008.
When she isn’t at the office, you will find her spending time with family, convincing herself to start a new workout plan, setting her fantasy football lineup, or watching the latest Marvel Movie.
Erica Leonardini earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies in 2013. She first began working as a paralegal in 2004 specializing in family law, and then personal injury. Erica believes in providing our clients with patience, understanding, and a compassionate listening ear. Erica is ready to assist you in your estate planning needs.
Outside of the office, Erica enjoys running, being outdoors, and photography. Erica also enjoys spending time with her family, understanding the importance of working and being a mother, never choosing one role over another.
John has been practicing law since 1987. He is an experienced attorney with expertise in Estate Planning, Veterans Aid and Attendance and Medicaid eligibility. John was recently a director with ElderCounsel, LLC, a national organization that provides services to elder law attorneys. He not only advises clients but has been a presenter for National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Veterans Advocate Group of America, the Certified Financial Planners Association as well as numerous state bar associations. His passion is to bring innovative planning strategies to clients and to educate other attorneys about them. John welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively with you and your financial professionals to pursue optimal outcomes.
Aaron Blankenship is a Portland area local, born and raised in Southwest Washington. After earning a bachelor of arts degree at The University of California, Santa Barbara, he began his legal career with the State of Oregon as a civil clerk for Multnomah County, and joined the Pixton Law Group in 2018. Aaron loves helping people, spending time with his family, and enjoying time outside in the Pacific Northwest.
Cheryl is our firm administrator. She is a consummate multi-tasker, handling phone calls, appointments, conferences, billing and accounting, marketing and all things related to facilitating our workflow. Cheryl's favorite part of her job is interacting with the clients; she is our "Director of First Impressions."
Outside of the office Cheryl's most important role is as a mom. She has two grown children who live close by which she is very grateful for. When she is not at work you can find her volunteering at her church or working out in the gym. She and her husband also foster dogs for a local non-profit.
